Alchemy Health is the home of the Illawarra Lymphedema Service (ILS)

The ILS provides assessment, treatment and management for conditions that develop due to poor lymphatic function or pain and dysfunction after surgery.

​

  • Lymphoedema- Primary and Secondary

  • Swelling caused by the removal of lymph nodes (breasts, limbs, face etc.)

  • Restricted movement and inflammation after surgery

  • Venous oedema

  • Cording, scarring and adhesions

 

We strive to present clients with the latest medically accepted treatments in the management of Lymphoedema and swelling from sporting injuries or surgery. 

 

We incorporate emerging, evidenced based treatments of low level laser for improving scar tissue and lymphatic function in addition to pneumatic limb pumps.

ILS offer a personalised team approach in assessing client needs in the development of realistic care plans.

 

Early intervention is key in reducing the severity of Lymphoedema.

 

ILS educate our clients with appropriate self-massage and skin care techniques to increase healing and lower the risk of infection.

 

ILS often request medical assessment/history prior to implementing a Lymphoedema Management Plan, to work with care professionals for best results.

ILS provide care plans tailored to a clients specific needs including:

  • Manual therapies to improve functionality and movement including specific manual lymphatic drainage techniques,

  • Specialised physical therapy programs,

  • Massage for musculoskeletal dysfunction, 

  • Advise and assistance.
